Let’s be real: once the weather dips below “light jacket,” we’re entering warm mug season and this cup? She’s going to be hanging out all season long.
We’re bringing together the roasty, toasty vibes of organic Hojicha with the rich comfort of hot cocoa. It’s grounding, cozy, not-too-sweet, and perfect for sipping on the couch under a blanket with your fur baby curled at your feet.
🍂 But first, what even is Hojicha?
Great question. Hojicha is Japanese green tea that’s been gently roasted, which gives it that gorgeous brown color and naturally low caffeine content. Unlike matcha, which is vibrant green and energizing, hojicha is your calm, grounded friend. It is perfect for evenings or slow, chill mornings.
Ours is:
- Organic (always)
- Smooth and never bitter
- Like the tea equivalent of a warm hug
Ingredients
- ¾–1 cup of your favorite plant milk (almond, oat, cashew… whatever makes you feel best)
-
.5-1 tbsp cocoa powder
-
.5-1 tbsp pure maple syrup (yes, the real kind)
-
½ tsp organic Hojicha powder
- ¼ cup hot water
Directions
Warm your milk: In a pot on the stove or in your electric frother, heat your plant milk with the cocoa powder and maple syrup. Stir until smooth and dreamy.
Make your Hojicha shot: In a small bowl or matcha bowl, whisk ½ tsp of hojicha powder with ¼ cup hot water until fully dissolved. Use a bamboo whisk or electric frother.
- Pour the hojicha shot into your mug, then top it with your chocolatey milk. Frothy? Even better.
- Sip slowly. Wear fuzzy socks. Contemplate nothing. Or everything. Your call.
